Mighty Man of Valor
Judges 6:12
And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
God’s chosen people were at it once again! Their idol worship and disobedience to the Lord had landed them in subjugation to the Midianites and they were now in desperate need of a savior.
The angel of the Lord had a direct word for Gideon from heaven, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
What Gideon was faced with made it difficult to believe that God was with him even though He had heard testimonies of great deliverances. However, this was not his reality as oppression had broken his belief in the power of God. This was compounded by the fact that his family was poor, lacked the influence and resources to do anything and Gideon was at the bottom of the family’s food chain.
Being blinded by his current position he lacked the confidence to carry out the mandate presented to him by God’s messenger.
Gideon felt unworthy of the title “Man of Valor” and unqualified for the task that was before him. This mindset still plagues many of us today. I remember when the Lord told me to start writing and I didn’t think I was the man for the job and I had supporting facts to prove He made a mistake in selecting me. However, as I soon found out, when the Lord is with you, you become qualified for any assignment He gives you and what God says about you is the only title you need to hold on to.
Without giving it any thought, we simply adjust to the circumstances surrounding us and forget that we have been created for more than the struggles we are faced with. It took some convincing before Gideon bought into the plans that God had for his life and like him, you may be struggling to believe that God has called you too but I have a word for you today; God is with you, you mighty man/woman of valor!
It is not where you were born but where you were born to be!
